EGERIA PROGRAM. For the inclusion of immigrant students in intercultural schools.

Description

Egeria Program addresses the issue of migrant students’ inclusion and the handling of interculturality within the educational community. The first time this program was delivered was 2006-2007 academic year. EGERIA Program is a proposal designed for all educational centers in Spain but especially offered to those centers that belong to FERE-CECA (Catholic Schools Federation) that comprises 5,939 educational centers across Spain. The general aim of the project is the inclusion of migrant students through a tool to help teachers and principals to rethink and reorder all areas and structures of the educational center to become more intercultural. EGERIA program is divided into four parts: a) The school in the world, which provides a theoretical framework and description of the migration phenomenon and how it is addressed at schools; (b) The world in the school, which offers a self-assessment questionnaire of intercultural education in educational communities; (c) The specific proposals of the EGERIA Program to achieve the migrant students’ inclusion within the framework of an intercultural school; d) Selection of appropriate materials, training courses, bibliography, websites, articles and proposals to give practical responses and suggestions to the objectives listed above. EGERIA program is funded by FERE-CECA (Catholic Schools Federation).
